Now, we know what you must be thinking… ice cream isn’t the ideal health food, and also doesn’t scream wellness. Well, for the most part you’d be right, but living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t necessarily mean depriving yourself of the things that you love all of the time. Really, it’s about balance, and making healthy decisions. So, if you’re craving some ice cream on a hot day, go for it! But you should definitely be mindful of your portions. Try not to over indulge, and always take into account the extra calories you’ll be accumulating. To make up for the extra calories, you can add some time to your workout, or instead of driving to the ice cream shop, maybe walk instead.
For those of you who have incredible self-control and will not even entertain the idea of ice cream, here are some healthy alternatives for you.
Now let’s be clear about something… these healthy alternatives do not give you a rite of passage to over indulge. The same factors apply here as they do with ice cream. So, whether you’re having frozen yogurt or the real deal, you’ll want to keep your portions small, take into account the added calories to your daily calorie intake, and if possible, add some extra time to your workout.
