New Dental Coverage through ASO/SIDS Does Not Require an ID Card

January 18, 2018

As previously announced, effective January 1, 2018, your dental coverage through the New York City District Council of Carpenters (“NYCDCC”) Welfare Fund was switched from an Aetna DMO Plan to an ASO/SIDS PPO Plan. As a result of this switch, we have received questions from members asking when new ID Cards will be sent out. The answer to this question is that you will NOT be receiving new ID Cards from ASO/SIDS because they are not required. Instead, you will only need to provide your Social Security number (the last four digits should suffice) to your chosen dentist to be accepted as a covered patient.

However, if you feel more comfortable having a paper copy of an ID Card on you when you visit your dentist, there is a way to create one through ASO/SIDS’ website. You can do so by following the below steps:

  1. Visit ASO/SIDS’ website at www.asonet.com.
  2. Click the Sign In tab at the top right corner of the screen.
  3. If you already have an account, sign in by entering your User Name and Password, and clicking Sign In. If you do not have an account, click Create User Name and follow the on screen directions to create an account.
  4. Sign into your account.
  5. Once on the homepage, click the Print ID Card tab that appears on the left side of the screen. Before you click the tab, be sure that you are connected to a printer or the option will not work.

If you have any questions regarding ASO/SIDS’ website, you can contact them directly at (800) 537-1238.
